Building Bridges Between
Young Adults
Young Adult Ministry Mission Statement: "We are young men and women of St. Paul Parish, committed to Christ and to fellowship with one another. We will serve the community of faith by encouraging participation in the Sacraments, nurturing friendships, and discussing current faith topics in an open, loving atmosphere. In all things, we will be guided by the Holy Spirit."
What is Young Adult Ministry?
When you attend mass do you ever wonder who the other young adults are in the parish? St. Paul's young adult group is a great way to get to know some of them. We consist of parish members in their 20's and 30's who are looking to meet and create friendships with others our age, as well as share our faith with others. We believe in non-pressure tactics and invite others to participate in as many or as few of the activities they choose. Whether you are interested in social activities, have spiritual interests or something else, you are sure to find others who have similar interests.
What has Young Adult Ministry done so far?
Our first young adult gathering was in April, 2006. Therefore we are a relatively young group. However, in this short time we have done quite a bit to get to know each other and share our faith. Some of the activities we have participated in or are currently planning include:
- Young Adult Mass*
- Theology on Tap*
- Taize Prayer Service*
- Discussion Group*
- Coffee Breaks
- Dinner Out
- Timber Rattler Game
Although some of our activities are self-explanatory, some are not as clear. Below is a description of what some of the other activities are:
Young Adult Mass: Since May 2007, every third Sunday of the month at 10:30am. All ministries are served by young adults and a special reflection is given.
Theology on Tap: Speakers, conversation and theology at various establishments.
Taize: A Christian meditative candlelit service including simple chants sung repeatedly; rich silence; and prayers of praise and intercession. (Often preceded by dinner)
Discussion Groups: Topics vary depending on the members in attendance. A topic is decided on during the prior meeting. Any member can suggest a topic.
