Stewardship
"Advancing the Mission"
Our key prayer question is this: "Jesus, what do you want to do through me?"
At St. Paul Parish, we have a wonderful opportunity to express our Catholic faith by a full and vigorous participation in our diocesan stewardship effort called Advancing the Mission.
This effort involves five goals, four of which are central to diocesan life in which we are members, and a key parish goal centered on vibrant growth of our parish.
The key parish goal is St. Paul Growing and Caring. Half of the money raised in Advancing the Mission will stay in our parish to help us become better disciples of the Lord.
Here are the "vibrant growth" Advancing the Mission projects that our parishioners have identified for St. Paul's:
Youth Ministry: We have hired a full-time Youth Minister and are dedicating additional resources to create new faith opportunities for our parishioners, age 12-18. Click Here for more information.
Young Adult Ministry: We have hired a part-time Young Adult Minister to help grow the faith of our young adults, age 18-40. Click Here for more information.
Family Ministry: We are forming a new Family Ministry to better serve our many parish families. One of the new ministries that has begun in this area is Elizabeth Ministry, which serves the needs of mothers and babies.
"Paul Cares" Ministry: We have hired a part-time coordinator. Trained parishioners are providing support to fellow parishioners at the time of greatest need. This Ministry provides needed spiritual and caring services to those parishioners who are ill, grieving, separated, new to the parish, or returning to the faith. Click Here for more information.
Facility Expansion and Improvements: St. Paul Parish is growing in numbers and our church building is showing its age, even if modestly. We need to repair heating system infrastructure break-downs, replace the church front doors, improve air circulation and quality in the church, renovate the parish hall, enlarge the parking lot, expand the parish offices, and add a gathering space. Contributions to the Advancing the Mission campaign will help us get started on these important projects, as identified by the parishioners serving on the parish Property and Finance Committee.
Advancing the Mission
The other half of the gifts received will be used to ensure that our Church is in a position to be fruitful for generations to come. Four goals reflect the efforts of all 169 parishes in the Diocese of Green Bay to collectively support the Advancing the Mission stewardship campaign by creating four endowments to benefit diocesan parishes directly. Specifically, four important efforts will be endowed.:
Leadership Development: We are asked to support the formation of ministers who are called to God to lead us as a Church
Evangelization: We are called to reach out to a world that needs to be transformed by the Gospel message.
Life-Long Catechesis: We are called to develop and deepen our Catholic faith through those ministers who teach us and our children.
Priestly Retirement Care: We are called upon to care for those who have committed their lives to the Church.
The mission of Jesus is clear. By acting justly, loving tenderly, and walking in faith, we will come to know the mystery of the meaning of life. More, we will already participate in the very life of God, a life of grace.
Stewardship Prayer
Generous and loving God,
you call us to be disciples of your son Jesus
and good stewards of all your many gifts.
Open our minds and hearts to a greater awareness
and deeper appreciation of your countless blessings.
Transform us through the power of your Spirit to
nurture a stewardship way of life
marked by faith-filled prayer,
service to our neighbor and generous sharing.
Teach us to be faithful servants of your gifts.
With Mary's help, may we return ten-fold the gifts
entrusted to us.
Bless our capital stewardship campaign with a
deepening devotion to prayer,
a growing commitment for service,
and increasing levels of generosity as we work to
advance the mission of both our parish and the diocese.
We pray through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
