Father's Reflections Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sep 29, 2017

Dear St. Paul Family,

Last weekend we presented to you the proposed architectural design of our new choir space and for the extension of the Altar platform.  If you did not get the bulletin insert with the proposed design there are 24 x 36 inch display boards for you to view at each entrance.  This weekend we will be inviting you to give written feedback via a feedback form so we can hear your thoughts on this project.  We really do want to hear from all parishioners so we ask that everyone completes a feedback form.  When our current church was built, what is now the St. Peregrine room was the choir space.  That area wasn’t used very long as the choir space since it was too small and acoustically challenging.  The right side of the Sanctuary where the choirs currently sing worked ok for this parish for many years, but the Sanctuary is reserved for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and not the intended place for a choir in the worship space.  Music in the Liturgy is very important to us, and this new proposed design will give our choirs and musicians their own permanent dignified space for supporting our sung worship to our Lord at Mass.  There will be a raised platform with permanent seating, and choirs will no longer have to set up and take down risers and chairs as they currently do in the Sanctuary.  This project will also include extending the Altar platform back to the front wall of church in order to raise up the Tabernacle so it will be more visible from wherever one sits in church.  We are also proposing a new larger tabernacle to replace the one we currently have.  Please keep this project in your prayers as we work to create a space that will enhance our worship of God at every Mass here at St. Paul.

Our Fall Festival will take place just one week from now, the weekend of October 7th & 8th.   As of the printing of this bulletin we had only about 300 more tickets to sell.  If you have not yet picked up your raffle tickets they are available for pick-up in the back of Church with your name on them.  Tickets are $20/each with the grand prize at $5,000 once again this year and 49 other cash prizes.  We will only be selling 1,200 tickets so your odds of winning are 1:24.  Once we reach 1,200 we will not be selling any more tickets so please turn in your tickets as you sell them to ensure they will be part of the raffle drawing.  Also, we are now accepting donations of new and handcrafted items for our silent auction.  Donations can be brought to the parish no later than October 2nd to the parish office during the week, or can be given to an usher or greeter on Sunday.  Let’s work together to make this year’s Fall Festival a wonderful celebration for our parish.

Our Monthly Disciples on the Way Holy Hour will take place this Wednesday, October 4th from 7:00 – 8:00pm.  All parish families are invited and encouraged to attend this holy hour, especially if you have family members or friends who have drifted away from the Church, I invite you to come and pray in a special way for them before our Eucharistic Lord.

This coming Friday, October 6th is First Friday.  We will have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8:00am to 4:00pm.  If you are able to sign up for an hour of Adoration on Friday please sign up by the Mother of Perpetual Help icon to the left of the Sanctuary.  Also, Saturday, October 7th is First Saturday and we will have Mass here at 8:00am.

Have a Wonderful Week!

Blessings,
Fr. Andy
