Father's Reflections Fourth Sunday of Lent
Mar 9, 2018
Dear St. Paul Family,
Thank you to everyone who helped out at our first fish fry on Friday night and to all of you who came to support the fish fry. Our second of two fish frys will take place on Friday, March 23rd. Please plan to come and enjoy your parish fish fry. We will be serving from 4:30pm – 7:00pm and carry-outs will be available. Also, if you are able to sign-up to help with our second fish fry there are sign-up sheets available at both entrances of church for you to sign up. We do need a lot of help so please consider giving a gift of time on March 23rd to your parish.
In addition to Saturday afternoon confession times, the opportunity for individual sacramental Reconciliation will also be available from 5:00-6:00pm on the remaining Wednesday evenings during Lent; March 14, 21, and 28. The area Communal Penance services are listed in the bulletin. Also, the Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 4:00pm every Friday during Lent.
Our Monthly Disciples on the Way Holy Hour will take place this Wednesday, March 14th from 7:00 to 8:00pm in Church. All parish families are invited and encouraged to attend to spend some time before our Eucharistic Lord during this time of Lent.
We are now six weeks into the 2018 Bishop’s Appeal. Thank you to everyone who has already made their gift to this year’s Bishop’s Appeal. If you have not yet made your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal please remember to return your pledge card soon. We really do need everyone’s help to make our appeal goal. As of this week we are 63% to our Bishop’s Appeal goal for 2018. If you have never given to the Bishop’s Appeal or if it has been a while since you have contributed, please consider making a gift this year. If you are able, I invite you to join me by becoming a member of the Crozier Society, or if you are currently a Crozier Society member to once again give at that level. Those who give $500 a year or more to the Bishop’s Appeal are Crozier Society Members. Members of this society receive the Compass Newspaper, are invited to Mass and dinner with Bishop Ricken, and are a member of the Golden Circle here at St. Paul. No matter what level you are able to give, please be as generous as you can with this year’s appeal. There are many ways in which our parish benefits from the Bishop’s Appeal. Six weeks ago you should have received your first pledge card in the mail, and if you didn’t give a gift yet this year a second letter will be sent to you this coming week. If you did not receive a pledge card in the mail there are pledge cards and envelopes available at both entrances for you to make your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal. Please respond as soon as you are able so that we can make our appeal assessment for this year. In 2017 we made our appeal goal by April 15th. With everyone’s help we will be able to meet our appeal goal even earlier this year. Please make your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal today, and help make Disciples of Christ.
Have a Good 4th Week of Lent!
