Father's Reflections First Sunday of Lent
Mar 8, 2019
Dear St. Paul Family,
Ash Wednesday is this coming Wednesday, March 6th. We will have Mass at 7:30am and 6:30pm on Ash Wednesday. Please consult this bulletin for regulations of Fasting and Abstinence on Ash Wednesday and during Lent.
We will have Stations of the Cross and Benediction at 4:00pm every Friday during Lent. Dates, times, and locations for the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will also be listed in the bulletin throughout the time of Lent. In addition to Saturday afternoon confession times, and the area communal penance services, the opportunity for individual sacramental Reconciliation will also be available from 5:00-6:00pm on Wednesday evenings during Lent here at St. Paul.
This coming Friday, March 8th will be our 1st of two Lenten parish fish fries. Our 2nd fish fry will be a week from Friday on March 15th. Please plan to come and enjoy your parish fish fry. We will be serving from 4:30pm – 7:00pm and carry-outs will be available. Also, if you are able to sign-up to help with our fish fries there are sign-up sheets available at both entrances of church for you to sign up. We do need a lot of help so please consider giving a gift of time this week to your parish.
We are now one month into the 2019 Bishop’s Appeal. Thank you to everyone who has already made their gift to this year’s Bishop’s Appeal. If you have not yet made your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal please remember to return your pledge card soon. We really do need everyone’s help to make our appeal goal. As of this week we are 33% to our Bishop’s Appeal goal for 2019. If you have never given to the Bishop’s Appeal or if it has been a while since you have contributed, please consider making a gift this year. If you are able, I invite you to join me by becoming a member of the Crozier Society, or if you are currently a Crozier Society member to once again give at that level. Those who give $500 a year or more to the Bishop’s Appeal are Crozier Society Members. Members of this society receive the Compass Newspaper, are invited to Mass and dinner with Bishop Ricken, and are a member of the Golden Circle here at St. Paul. No matter what level you are able to give, please be as generous as you can with this year’s appeal. There are many ways in which our parish benefits from the Bishop’s Appeal. Four weeks ago you should have received your pledge card in the mail. If you did not receive a pledge card in the mail there are pledge cards and envelopes available at both entrances for you to make your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal. Please respond as soon as you are able so that we can make our appeal assessment for this year. With everyone’s help we will be able to meet our appeal goal. Please make your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal today, and help be a Missionary of Hope to the thousands of people who benefit from the Bishop’s Appeal each year.
Have a Great Week!
